In January 2010 Mockingbird Pipeline, L.P., filed a condemnation lawsuit against the Town of Flower Mound for a 30-foot natural gas pipeline easement across Fire Station No. 2 property, located at FM 1171 and Shiloh Road. The Town vigorously resisted that effort and since that time, the Town and Mockingbird Pipeline have been engaged in multiple jurisdictional battles in the court system. Mockingbird Pipeline has agreed to drop its lawsuit against Flower Mound and pay the Town $55,000 to offset the Town’s legal costs in this matter.

In a foreshadowing of what could become a contentious race for Town Council, Monday’s meeting included so much disagreement that the normally perfunctory section of the council agenda labeled “briefing session” lasted about an hour longer than usual, not concluding until 7:15 p.m. and the overall meeting lasted from 6 p.m. until just after 10 p.m. Items of contention were the Town’s level of support for the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce and the timeline of the Charter Review Commission, which is having fewer meetings and relatively less public input on charter amendments than previous charter commission reviews, the most recent of which was completed in 2007. In other action, the council offered guidance on providing development incentives for a shopping center planned for the south side of FM 1171 at its intersection with Bruton Orand Boulevard.

Mayor Pro-Tem Al Filidoro praises the local medical community.
When Flower Mound Mayor Pro-Tem Al Filidoro praises the local medical community, he can do it in roles as both civic booster and patient. Leading an active life, many years of which were spent as a professional drummer in a band, the role of patient is not an honor he sought, but after his second significant stay in a local medical facility, Filidoro has taken an up close and personal look at Flower Mound hospitals and he likes what he’s seen.
