In a foreshadowing of what could become a contentious race for Town
Council, Monday’s meeting included so much disagreement that the
normally perfunctory section of the council agenda labeled “briefing
session” lasted about an hour longer than usual, not concluding until
7:15 p.m. and the overall meeting lasted from 6 p.m. until just after
10 p.m. Items of contention were the Town’s level of support for the
Flower
Mound Chamber of Commerce and the timeline of the Charter
Review
Commission, which is having fewer meetings and relatively
less public
input on charter amendments than previous charter
commission reviews,
the most recent of which was completed in 2007.
In other action, the
council offered guidance on providing
development incentives for a
shopping center planned for the south
side of FM 1171 at its
intersection with Bruton Orand Boulevard.

Mayor Pro-Tem Al Filidoro praises the local medical community.
|
|
When Flower Mound Mayor Pro-Tem Al Filidoro praises the local medical
community, he can do it in roles as both civic booster and patient.
Leading an active life, many years of which were spent as a
professional
drummer in a band, the role of patient is not an honor
he sought, but
after his second significant stay in a local medical
facility, Filidoro
has taken an up close and personal look at Flower
Mound hospitals and he
likes what he’s seen.

for Place 2 on the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees during the
upcoming May 12 election. Although she is running for the position
currently held by Vernell Gregg, president of the LISD Board,

likes the district’s current direction and wants to be in a position
to push for implementation of the strategic vision for the district

Like others growing up in South Florida in the early 1970s, Ladd Biro
had just one professional sport to follow.
This was long before
the Miami Heat basketball or Miami Marlins baseball teams brought
their championship-caliber talents to South Beach. The Miami Dolphins
and their legendary coach, Don Shula, ruled the region especially
during their undefeated 1972 season and Super Bowl VII victory.
